Use at Your Own Risk

"Use at your own risk" is the mantra seen repeatedly on the SBI's Outsourcing Forum. The forum is touted as a place where SBIers can come and ask other SBIers for recommendations for people and companies that do outsourced work.

However, if anyone dares to mention any company or source but that provided by SBI's Resources and SBI Coaching, they get told "SBI doesn't guarantee work done on sites/businesses/people outside of SBI coaching. If it doesn't work out, you'll have to deal entirely with that person (company). SBI will not (and it's not their place) to step in. Nor can they vouch for the quality of that work and whether or not it'll panda-proof you."

The forum instructions and guides are very clear that SBI doesn't recommend anyone but SBI Coaching. The moderator(s) repeat that at every opportunity, making it very clear that they really don't want any source mentioned that is NOT SBI.

In my book, that makes the Outsourcing forum a joke.

National ID for Internet Users Proposed

So the Government (White House) is proposing a National ID for those who do business on the internet...for the safety of all.

You know there's just something about the Government wanting to "watch my back", have one location for IDs and passwords, that just sounds a bit "unsafe" to me. If the ID is approved by the Government, then will the Government say who has, and who does not have, the freedom to be online?

What about all those sites that act as watchdogs for the Government? Would the oh-so-fair and impartial National ID Squad, set up by the Government to oversee the distribution and monitoring of the Net ID, just refuse to let any anti-government, non-approved sites to have access to the web?

Is this just another way for the Government to control the internet?

Having the Government "secure" the net sounds a bit like having the fox guard the hen house!
